Morgan Stewart
Excused: Sgt. Kyle Fielding -Is in bomb training. Clarissa Jones -Not feeling well. Tracy
Bono -Attending a necessary meeting. He arranged for Tony Black, Streets Director to
represent him.
Minutes: April 10, 2024 -Approved
May 8, 2024 -Approved
Citizen's Requests:
1. Katie Fritz, 3760 Ross Ave -Requesting a crosswalk at South Ross/E.Sunnyside
to make it safer to get to Peterson Park. Katie Hesselbacher, 3760 Ross Ave is
here as well. Ross Ave is a safety and convenience issue. The park is getting
used a lot.
2. Shannon Shearer, 3680 Ross Ave -Her children go to Mountain Valley
Elementary. They couldn't participate in a ride your bike to school day because
it was too dangerous to bike to Mountain Valley Elementary. They use Peterson
Park a lot. Traffic conditions are limiting their access to the park. The sign says
it is available for ALL. But it is not available to them because they can't safely
cross. There are no sidewalks so they can't walk along Sunnyside Rd to go to
Ammon Rd/Sunnyside Rd. crosswalk. She emphatically stated, "Keep the
children safe, they are our future!" Discussion took place about the reasons we
shouldn't put one there now and what is planned for that road in the future. 1.
There is not a stopping condition like stop signs. 2. There has to be accessibility
to sidewalks that meet ADA requirements, which we don't have. 3.The grant for
a walking path and bike path further east at the RR tracks is probably 4-5
years away. The best option would be the pathway. Cindy agrees with visitors, it
is scary and dangerous. A crosswalk will create a false sense of security. There
are real concerns about midblock crossing. Doesn't feel like kids would be safer.
Micah -study? We did one before and it didn't warrant any changes. Tony -Keep
discussing it needs to be on our radar. Action Item for July. Do a 24 hour traffic
count as well.
3. A gentleman requested an additional speed limit sign near his home at 5956
Dry Ridge Ln. -There is one on Dry Creek Way coming into the subdivision..

Tony is not in favor. Speed Limit signs are in place coming into subdivision. All
were in favor of a speed study. Doing a speed analysis we will have numbers for
our data so we will know if there needs to be one.All were in favor of a couple
day speed study.
4. A resident on Cassidy Dr. has speed/reckless driving concerns within the
neighborhood (Eagle Pointe) coming off of Crowley Rd. Morgan put out a speed
sign and it didn't warrant any action.. Tony drove it and he was going about 10
mph. It is a speed perception issue. The avg. speed was 18 mph and the top
speeds were 25 mph.
Street Division Updates: Misc.Tony-Keith Banda sent out a list of needed signs around
town. The signs are already ordered. Let Keith know they are coming. 36" stop signs
coming onto main arterial roads and 30" stop signs in neighborhoods. Hawks? They
don't meet our standards. Replace signs, posts will be telespar. Cindy- Curtis Ward
doesn't want current signs. She'111 do some more research and get in touch with
Curtis. Every sign does need to be replaced. Morgan-Greenwillow coming off of
Ammon needs a speed sign. Micah is getting calls to put the speed bumps back in.
The speed bumps keep coming up. To keep them down they need to have spikes which
puts holes in the road. Water will get in the road and ruin it. Slurry seal will take place
more like the end of July.
Action Items:
1. None
Discussion Items:
Derrald Ave/Eagle Dr.- Had a call for a 4 way stop. We are putting in a roundabout.
The concrete on the curb and gutter is missing by Hip Sip and Walgreens. Micah
called them to get it fixed.
Micah called Walmart about the big hole where the storm drain is by Walmart. He
hasn't heard back yet on the schedule to get it fixed.
Cindy- Whether the right of way is ours or not the weeds make it very hard to see as
you are coming out of Walgreens going south. They need to be taken care of. Tony will
have his crew take care of it.
Morgan- Resident lives on Circle S and Midway Ave. There are no sidewalks on Circle
S. He is requesting that a little sidewalk be continued to his driveway for the kids'
safety. Micah- Is it a traffic issue? Micah thinks it is a Public Works issue not a Traffic
Commission issue. Tony said it won't solve the safety issue. The whole street will need
a sidewalk. Let him know he can put one in.
21st St/ Crowley- Needs a 4 way stop. Both Tony and Micah think a roundabout will
work.
