Voting was unanimous. The motion carried.
The first item of business was a request for a variance by
Leonard and Janet Powell, 3035 Central Avenue, Ammon. They asked
permission to construct a garage on the side of their house and to
diminish the required set back of 30' to 24'. The commission
reviewed the request after which Jim Southwick stated that according
to Ordinance 11-7-8, they did not qualify for a variance. Mr. Powell
stated that he would like to build on in this manner because he felt
the addition would blend in better with the existing structure. He
presented a list of names that he said had not objected to the
proposed addition. The commission felt he did not qualify, therefore
Chairman Bybee called for a motion. Jim Southwick motioned to
recommend to the city council denial of the request for a variance,
citing 11-7-8 of the ordinance, for Mr. & Mrs. Leonard Powell. Kathy
Dansie seconded the motion. Voting was unanimous. The motion
carried.
The second item of business was Anderson Lumber Div. No. 1 final
plat presented by Glen Anderson. Mr. Anderson reviewed with the
commission the plot plan also, pointing out the various locations of
buildings and parking facilities. He stated there would be 174
parking places, stating this was greater than the requirements.
.
Kevin Hungate, Vickie Hungate, and Jackie Chambers asked if they
might make some inquiries. They asked for the exact location of all
proposed buildings. The plot plan outlined that for them. Next they
asked about an attractive and effective barrier near their property
line. Mr. Anderson informed them a chain link fence was planned.
