CITY OF AMMON SPECIAL MEETING PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION May 14, 1997 Minutes of the Special Meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission: The meeting was called to order by Chairman Kevin Murray at 6:35 P.M. in the City Building, 2135 South Ammon Road, Ammon, Idaho. Thomas Sautter Marcia Bingham Jay Johnson Kerrie Obray Alan Obray OTHERS PRESENT: Wendy Schoonmaker Claudia Clark Jeff Clark Mark Johnson Gary Bingham Chairman Murray explained the purpose of the special meeting was to clarify the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission to the City Council concerning the request of Jay Johnson for rezone of ten acres of property and for annexation with initial zoning of thirty acres of property located south of East Sunnyside Road across from Carolyn Lane/Hillcrest High School. The Planning and Zoning Commission considered this request at a Public Hearing held May 6, 1997. Jay Johnson reviewed his request and proposed that two-thirds of the property be zoned R-I and one-third be zoned R-2. The zoning proposal differs from the original request. Townhouses are planned for the cul-de-sacs and single family dwellings will abut the Felt Waite addition. A development agreement and/or protective covenants will identif'y restrictions including no multi-family rental units and only two-unit townhouses per lot. . Legal counsel recommended no further public input because the hearing was closed at the May 6, 1997 meeting. However, the public was invited to this meeting so they are aware of what is happening. The zoning has been moved downwards from R-2A to R-2. The City Council will conduct a Public Hearing to consider the request on June 5, 1997.
