Ron Folsom reported on the status of the request for annexation of the Smith/Ritter properties.
The public hearing was held August 8, 2000, but action has been tabled. The City Council is
near an agreement with the City of Idaho Falls and Bonneville County on our Area of Impact.
Based on the proposed agreement both of these properties are outside our Area of Impact and
outside our sewer service area. Action was delayed until the December meeting.
The Comprehensive Plan ties into the Area of Impact Agreement. Ammon needs to move our
boundary back on the Comprehensive Plan because the Plan we have been working on shows our
boundary west ofHitt Road. In the agreement now proposed by the three entities, Hitt Road will
be the west boundary of Ammon and the east boundary of Idaho Falls. Also, both cities have
agreed to move the north boundary to one-half mile north of Lincoln Road. The Comprehensive
Plan map and the text should be ready to finalize together in the near future. The text of the
Comprehensive Plan can be changed monthly. Bonneville Metropolitan Planning Organization
(BMPO) has agreed to update our zoning map and Comprehensive Plan map on a regular basis.
