Council Minutes 07/11/1966 'd',(i Regular Monthh" meeting of the Ammon City Council held July 11,1966 in the City buildin~. Meeting called to order by Mayer Mel Richardson at 7:40 P.M. Prayer by C. Leo Heer. Those present:Mayor Richardson, ~. Geo Wehmann, Roy Southwick, Leo heer,and Keith Brown-A1t. Joe Anderson,excused.First item of business was the Idaho Municipal Leage Convention to be heldat Coeur d 'Alene Idaho, $500.00 has beenbudgeted for traveling expense to be divided by those attending, any unused mony will be returned to the general fund. I James Croston met wi th the City Council and reported he had cleaned up a11 but two cars and a pile of metil from his property agreed to have cleaned up by July 18,and will meet next council meeting Aug. to report. Next ieem of business disposal of dogs desided'to have a gas chamber built and used for killing dogs,also a partition gog pound in 30r 4 sections with a threaded steel pipe ana chains link wire. Officer Strain agreed to help Lavern Williams in building the pens. Mayor Richardson is going to talk to City Engeer Dave Benton about better service.C. Leo Heer stated he is in favor of strict law enforcement, for water violators,dog control,and traffic violation,also street parking in Hmllview area. and loud noisy mufflers. c. Roy Southwick reported on the Nephi Jensen street sweeper which is for sale. not approved.Allual Ammon Day was discussed date was set for Aug. 13 Blaine Godfrey will be asked to be charrman of the celebration. Will start with a pancake breakfast at 6:30 A.M. Parade at 10:a.m. Horse shovT at 1:P.M. Ball game at 3:00 P.M. There will be games ,races,tug of war-varity show Jr. Queen will be chosen, consessions of all kinds Program and dance at night. c. Roy SOUthwickwas asked to make a survey in the Wadsworth Addition for the best location for a fire hydrant. I Progressive water assessment in the Hil1view area was discussed. Att. Joe Anderson stated if all the property owners on one block and the mor~age holders would sign a written request the Nater right could be drawen from the land, but until this can be accomplished the property owners are required to pay their water assessements.C. Southwick and Vern WIlliams were asked to meet with City Engineer Dave Benton to plan a water survey. c. Geo Wehemann was asked to organize a volunteer fire department and to purchase fire equipment necessary to get the fire truck in service. Lloyd Tatum resigned as City Auditor,he is moving to California. He has recommended Galusha Higgins and Galusha, Certified Public accountants be considered as City Auditord.
