According to Attorney Smith, Mayor Turnbow asked to have the Code checked regarding provisions for requiring a final inspection and issueing of a Certificate of Occupancy before allowing persons to move into home s built in the City of Ammon, which has been a problem. He noted that the requirements for this are covered in the Uniform Building Code which the City has adopted as a standard for all building and also in Sections 11-6-6 and 11-6-7 of the City Ordinances, with Sectionsll-26-7 and 1-3-1 providing for the penalty for violations. In answer to an inquiry from Councilman Cheney about people moving into homes before the final inspection due to hardship situations, Attorney Smith explained that the reason fro the Cer- tificate of Occupancy inspection is to insure that all safety factors have been taken care of. He stated that all contractors have been put on hard notice tla t future violations of this requirement will be prosecuted.
