CHAPTER 4 Title 2 Traffic Safety Commission CHAPTER 4 TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION SECTION: 2-4-1: Appointment 2-4-2: Qualifications 2-4-3: Term 2-4-4: Organization 2-4-5: Duties 2-4-1: APPOINTMENT: The Mayor, subject to the confirmation of the Council, may appoint a Traffic Safety Commission of not less than three (3) or more than seven (7) members, who shall hold office for the term hereinafter provided. 2-4-2: QUALIFICATIONS: The members of the Traffic Safety Commission appointed shall be residents and electors of the City of Ammon with not more than one-third of the members of such Commission to hold appointive or elective office otherwise with the City; provided, however, that one member of said Commission may be a non-resident. 2-4-3: TERM: The term of office for said Commission members shall be for two (2) years; except that for the first appointments, the term shall be determined by drawing lots so that as nearly as may be, one-third respectively shall serve for one (1) year, two (2) years, and three (3) years, and thereafter successive appointments shall serve for a term of two (2) years. 2-4-4: ORGANIZATION: The Commission shall have a chairman and a secretary to be selected by the Commission. 2-4-5: DUTIES: A. The Commission shall study the traffic throughout the City to the discovery and elimination of special hazards, the promotion of traffic safety by traffic controls, laws, regulations, and other means, and shall make recommendations to the Council concerning traffic safety from time to time. B. The Commission shall serve as the Board of Hearing for appeals of parking infraction citations. This Board shall meet as needed to review appeals of citations issued by the Enforcement Officer or their designee for violations of Sections 9-4- 1 of the Ammon City Code.
