<br />CHAPTER 3 <br /> <br />SPEED REGULATIONS <br /> <br /> <br />SECTION <br /> <br />9-3-1: Basic Rule <br />9-3-2: Establishment of Speed Limits <br />9-3-3: General Speed Limit <br />9-3-4: Minimum Speed Regulations <br /> <br /> <br />9-3-1: BASIC RULE: Any person who operates a vehicle within the limits of the <br />City, at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having <br />regard to the actual and potential hazards then existing shall by guilty of an infraction <br />subject to section 1-4-2 of the Ammon City Code. <br /> <br /> <br />9-3-2: ESTABLISHMENT OF SPEED LIMITS: The City Engineer shall be <br />responsible for the overseeing of the speed limits posted within the City. As needed, the <br />City Engineer shall make a recommendation for changes to speed limits within the City. <br />Such recommendations shall be based on traffic studies and/or an investigation which <br />may include observation of a needed change. The City Engineer shall then make a <br />presentation to the City Council who shall by action at a City Council meeting approve or <br />deny the City Engineer’s recommendation. <br /> <br /> <br />9-3-3: GENERAL SPEED LIMIT: The general speed limits, unless altered as <br />provided in the next preceding section, shall be as follows: <br /> <br />(A) Thirty five (35) miles per hour on all arterial roadways within the City. <br /> <br />(B) Twenty five (25) miles per hour on all streets other than arterial roadways. <br /> <br />(C) Twenty (20) miles per hour in all posted school or safety zones. <br /> <br />(D) Such limits may be altered subject to the provisions of 9-3-2 and upon posting <br />notice thereof. <br /> <br /> <br />9-3-4: MINIMUM SPEED REGULATIONS: Any person who drives a vehicle at <br />such a slow speed as to impede or block the safe and efficient movement of vehicular <br />traffic shall be guilty of an infraction and shall be subject to section 1-4-2 of the Ammon <br />City Code. <br /> <br /> <br />Title 9, Chapter 3 Page 1 of 1 Revised 7-12-2018 <br /> <br />
